The wedding industry is creative, vibrant and ever-changing. It’s a dynamic world, driven by visionaries who bring talent and commitment to their clients. To succeed, you not only need technical ability, knowledge and originality, you also have to develop all the skills that are essential to running a business in the modern world. ‘An Introduction to Floristry & Business’ has been designed to help you bring your business dream to life and provide you with both information and inspiration in equal measure.

Five years ago, I was desperately unhappy. I was trapped in the 9-5, longing to change my life and step away from an unfulfilling role in the finance sector. Volunteering at my local florist opened my eyes to a whole new range of possibilities but it seemed that making the leap from one world to another would be an impossible dream. It isn’t and I’m proof of that.

‘An Introduction to Floristry & Business’ is a unique one day workshop that blends practical advice, expert speakers and hands-on floristry with demonstrations, personal reflections and industry information. I want to share my story, explain what I’ve learned along the way and talk about the highs and lows of running a business.

The day will start with an introduction from me then we’ll move onto floristry. You’ll learn where to buy flowers, when to buy them for specific events and how to condition, store and maintain them. I’ll talk about the basic rules of floristry and why I don’t follow them. There will be a demonstration of floral arrangement, practical tips on stem counts and honest discussions around advertising that has and hasn’t worked for me.

I’m also thrilled to welcome two influential and inspirational guest speakers to ‘An Introduction to Floristry & Business’. Lisa Johnson of Just Own This will join us to discuss business coaching and as a freedom and success coach with three hugely successful businesses of her own, Lisa will give you all the motivation you could possibly need.

We’ll also hear from Louise Beukes, founder of BLoved and The BLoved Hive. Louise is an uplifting speaker, entrepreneur and girl boss extraordinaire. She’ll be giving us an introduction to blogs and explaining how to get your work featured. With an unlimited knowledge of the wedding industry and an innate style, Louise is an exceptional talent.

Of course, a floristry event wouldn’t be complete without some practical work so you’ll have the opportunity to create your own floral arrangement in the style that suits you and your business.

I can’t wait to meet you and introduce you to floristry and business. Your joy starts here.
